What is handicap betting?

Handicap betting also known as point betting or line betting is a form of betting that bookmakers use to level out the playing field between the favourite and the underdogs.

The favourite being the stronger team and the underdogs being the weaker team.

Types of handicap betting
There are two major type of handicap bet
1. European handicap betting
2. Asian handicap betting

Let’s take a look at the first one,

The European handicap bet.
The European handicap bet gives room for three different outcomes:
a. The home handicap
b. The away handicap
c. Draw handicap

The Asian handicap offers a lot of mathematical effect with decimals, you see confusing figures like 0.5, +1.5, -1.05 etc. It is important to note that in Asian handicap betting, there are no draw outcomes.
