In today’s poker strategy short, Phil Galfond explains how to exploit other poker players’ aggression factor.

The aggression factor stat gives you an idea of how many aggressive actions a poker player is taking overall, whether they are betting and raising more or taking passive actions by checking and calling more.

Against players with a low aggression factor, a passive player who takes minimal aggressive actions, you need to get out of the way when they start betting and you get to start betting more often yourself without fear of being raised.

Against someone with a high aggression factor you are going to be facing more aggressive poker strategy lines, your 3-bets aren’t going to get called more they are going to get 4-bet more.

You exploit this by developing a more polarized poker strategy that is happy to receive bets via being very strong and happy to continue or weak enough to fold without pain.

Exploiting different poker player types is no easy task, add these poker exploits to your poker strategy arsenal with conscious effort and you’ll buff up that win-rate!

There is some strategy to running it once vs running it twice, but it doesn’t have to do with altering your equity with your poker hand.

However, at the end of the day your equity doesn’t change in any pot by choosing to run it once or run it twice.

By choosing to run it once or run it twice you’ve only affected your variance in that poker hand, which should not be ignored!
