ESCAPING A SNOW STORM | WE NEED TO LEAVE | FULL-TIME TRUCK CAMPER LIVING

We had to escape the Lake Effect snow storm and we made our way somewhere, familiar. Thanksgiving was an absolute blast and we enjoyed our time with who we were with.

We did our best to showcase the realities of what travel looks like without the camper since we left it behind. It was a big risk without being there to make sure it wouldn’t freeze but it was worth it.

Come along as we make it back to our camper and start a new journey.

Why We Love Truck Camping Texas Edition

Truck Camper Magazine visits the 2023 Texas Truck Camper Rally and asks fellow truck campers why they love their truck campers and truck camping. Note how many folks had a large motorhome or a fifth wheel and made the switch. Special thank you to the team at Princess Craft RV and everyone at the Texas Truck Camper Rally who helped us make the video!

Winter Truck Camping in the SNOW

This week I headed Southeast to Banning State Park. My first night I was searching for campsites and stayed overnight in a truck stop. The snow is putting a cramp on my abilities to get in the woods. This was an amazingly beautiful hike. The snow is deep, but it makes the woods magical. Every weekend in the Truck Camper is a win in my book. Hopefully we won’t have snowstorm or blizzard in January so i can get back to truck camping. Thanks for coming along on the adventure.

Cold Weather Truck Camping

This week I stayed at the Maplewood State Park near Pelican Rapids Minnestoa. I stayed overnight in the truck camper and the park was empty. The weather forecast was calling for warmer temperatures all week, but Mother Nature had different plans. It was cold, windy and the snow started falling around 2am Sunday night. I tried my hand at making ribs in the Dutch oven. They turned out great, however I had to sacrifice half the rack to the campfire gods. I hiked through the woods looking for a prime location to put a camera to observe the northern lights but wasn’t able to get a clear shot of the horizon. I jumped on the bike to check further away but came up empty handed. It was all good though, the snow would have made the lights impossible to see. The weather channel is calling for snowstorms and blizzard conditions this week. Next week’s video might be interesting. Thanks for coming along on this week’s adventure. I’ll see ya down the road.

Truck Camping in Winter

This week I’m taking you Truck Camping in a remote Minnesota State Park. It was super quiet; I was the only one in the entire park. It was a beautiful weekend, and the scenery was amazing. I made a custom hanging stand over the campfire and smoked a tomahawk steak. It was a one of my best campfire cooking experiments yet. I really appreciate that you followed along on this week’s travels. Ill see you again down the road.

Truck Camper Tour / Arctic Fox / Tips Tricks and Modifications

This week I’m taking you on a Truck Camper Tour of my 2004 Arctic Fox M860. I’m not a full-time Youtuber, a full-time RV’er or a full-time traveler. I’m just a regular guy busting my back working Monday through Friday so I can enjoy my weekends. A year and a half ago I decide to buy a GoPro and start documenting my travels. Since then, I have been introduced to some really cool viewers. I chat with so many of the same people every week in the comments you all are really starting to feel like friends. I know my traveling style is not for everyone. The upgrades I have done are to make weekend travel easy. With that said I do not buy expensive equipment seen on other channels. If that was the case, I would have to work more to pay for that stuff and I’d never have time off. I have a lot of van-life people, off grid living folks and fellow truck camping people who come along with me on my weekly travels. I have learned a lot from you all in the comments, so I really appreciate all the engagement. Next week the freezing temperatures are returning along with the possibility of a snowstorm or blizzard. We will see how those effects next week’s video!

Essential Truck Camper Maintenance

This weekend I’m doing some preventive maintenance checks on my Arctic Fox Truck Camper and Chevy Silverado 3500 Truck. I have torn my roof in the past and used tape to cover it. Now my tape is ripping. I’ve been thinking about putting a metal bar along the roof edge to protect it from branches. Kind of like a rocker guard on a jeep. For now, I’ll just put another layer of tape over it…….it’ll be fine! I also checked for gas leaks because that is very important to do often. The Silverado needed to be greased. I do my own oil changes and sometimes I skip the zerks. It was also a good time to check that all the aftermarket parts I installed are still mounted tightly. Thanks for checking out the video.

Truck campers are no longer what your grandfather camped in!

Truck campers have grown and evolved…a lot! We had some viewers ask us to look at truck campers at the Florida RV Supershow and we were impressed by the ingenuity and the amenities but also a bit taken aback by how big and heavy some of these rigs are becoming.

In this video, we hit the highlights of three different rigs from Northern Lite, Host, and Lance.
