Predictology Tutorial (08): Asian Handicap Supremacy

So let’s talk a bit about Asian Handicap Supremacy and Inferiority.

What does that mean?

We’re using this system builder parameter to find teams that are beating the asian handicap, or to find teams that are losing the asian handicap.

Let’s see what does the tooltip say. Hover mouse over “Average Supremacy”.
It says: “By how much did a team beat the set asian handicap in average. Use negative numbers for inferiority”.

So what is a set asian handicap? Let’s have a look on the Upcoming Selections module.

Let’s change to Asian Handicap.

And this is what we call the set asian handicap. The handicap for the match that the bookmakers assigned.

In this case, Arsenal are asian favorites against Watford and the set asian handicap, the one where odds on both sides are close to evens, or 2.0, is Arsenal minus one and half.

Now let’s imagine Arsenal beating Watford by 5-0. That would mean Arsenal beat the set asian handicap by a margin of 3.5 goals.

They did better than expected.

However, if they only beat Watford by 2-1 they would actually underperfom.

An asian handicap bet on Arsenal would be a losing one, and it would be a losing one by 0.5 goals.

So, if Arsenal won 5-0 their supremacy value would be +3.5, and if they won 2-1 their supremacy value would be -0.5, and we’d better call it inferiority.

The average supremacy would be the average supremacy throught the course of the season.

So if we choose average supremacy of 0.25, our system builder would return teams that are beating the set handicap by at least 0.25 goals in average.

You can also choose an exact sequence of asian handicap wins.
For example, you may want to search for a team that has a sequence of two consecutive asian handicap wins by at least 0.5 goals each.

Or, just like with all other system builder parameters in Predictology, you may reverse the whole parameter and start searching for teams that are losing the asian handicap battle – you do so by making this value negative – and you may bet against them.
